Gem Fair

I don't think I've ever seen anything more crowded. So many things to look at and so many people in the way of getting to look at them. But oh, the feeling of running your fingers through a bowl of polished stones, awesome. Looking at all the glittering crystals, seeing stones you've never even heard of before, wonderful. Had a great time! Traffic from Irvine, CA to Santa Monica was sure terrible. Took forever to get there and forever to get back, but it was worth it. Note to self, next time - take cash. You weren't allowed to take any pictures or write anything down, but I don't blame them. You work hard on your designs and you don't want anyone else to steal them. I am quite fond of ladybugs, so the only thing I bought was a $2.00 Sapphire Blue Ladybug stretchy bracelet with some fire polished blue beads and beautiful Hawaiian flowers with yellow centers. I'll definitely be going to the one in October for beads. You should try going, it was fun.

Gem Fair here we come!

I'm really looking forward to going to the International Gem Fair in Santa Monica, CA today. My husband, my new partner in crime and I are all going. Then tomorrow afternoon it's off to a craft fair in the Orange County Great Park. Busy weekend. Wish I had more time to sleep. I'm finding that the only time I have to work on my jewelry is the middle of the night. I have had chronic insomnia for so many years now, I've learned to just accept it and work with it, kind of embrace it instead of fighting it. So I make good use of the middle of the night. That's when I make my jewelry. That's when it's quiet and my imagination can creep into the canyons in my brain. I used to hate the middle of the night, full of dark thoughts and fears. Now it is full of color and imagination.

It's kind of funny, I don't wear any jewelry at all, not even my wedding ring, but nothing gives me more pleasure then designing and creating it. I love the colors. I am a graphic designer and color is my passion. I love the vibrant colors the most. My work is progressing, I'm learning new things all the time. Now I want to start in on Chinese knotting and incorporate that into my pieces. Sold my first piece on Etsy! Yeah, never thought it would happen. Made my day. I've really been working at promoting my business. Takes a lot of time. Well...off to the fair. Have a great day all!

Custom made Jewelry

I make a wide variety of jewelry. If you would like something custom made, let me know. My prices are very reasonable. I shop wisely and get good prices. I love designing and creating jewelry. I'm going to start volunteering to work with disabled people to help them make beautiful pieces of art. My store will be donating the supplies so everything you purchase, you can know that part of that will go towards helping the disabled.

A lot of work went into this. I cut out each element by hand and positioned them so they would literally spring up off the page.

The flowers in this wall hanging literally spring out from the background. Gold, Auburn, Mauve colors are incorporated. The flowers are enhanced with glitter making the whole wall hanging sparkle. Necklace - Penguine Pendant on a Velvet Cord with lampwork beading.

22" Murano Glass Penguine Pendant with Black glass lampwork beads and Tibetan silver spacers strung on a black velvet cord. Magnetic clasp makes this necklace very easy to put on and take off. I think this guy is so cute. I've made this one for my daughter.

Blue and Copper Murano Glass Cross Necklace

Beautifully designed 22" copper and blue necklace with a Murano Glass cross pendant. Strung on strong copper wire with beautiful crackled glass beads and swarovski crystals intermingled and copper spacers. The colors incorporated are teal green, saphire blue, amber, champagne and copper. Lobster claw clasp, easy to put on and take off. The cross is what makes this necklace, it is a beautiful piece of art.
